What is a Same Game Parlay?

A same game parlay is a wager with two selections from the same game that must win in order for the bet to pay out. Depending on the sport, and the wager, some sportsbooks may not allow certain combinations of same game parlays, as there is too much of a probable correlation between the two selections.

How to Bet a Same Game Parlay

The first step to betting a same game parlay is to make sure the sportsbook you are using will allow the wager based on the selections you plan to use in your parlay. See below for a review of the best sportsbooks to use for same game parlay betting.

There are many ways to incorporate same game parlay betting into your overall betting strategy. Above all else, the best way to do this is by betting what is called a ‘correlated parlay.’ Some sportsbooks may not allow a bet on a same game parlay if the probability of each selection has too much of a correlated outcome.

For example, in NFL football, if you have a +14.5 point underdog in a game that has a total of just 31.5 points. The probability of the underdog covering and the game going under is far greater than what the same game parlay odds would indicate. The key strategy to creating correlated same game parlays is to understand a simple fundamental of handicapping. For the most part in ATS as well as moneyline sports, games that see the favorite cover the spread will see the betting total go over. By using this method we can ensure that if the betting favorite in each of the two games selected is held to one goal or less in the first period, at least one of the two parlays will cash. If each of the two parlays are lined at odds of +101 or better, only one parlay needs to cash in order to turn a profit.

MLB Same Game Parlay

The same concept and strategy explained in NHL hockey can also be utilized to create correlated same game parlay bets in MLB baseball. While there is not exactly a direct correlation between the favorite winning, and more runs being scored, or the underdog winning and fewer runs being scored, there are still ways to combine selections and create a same game parlay in the MLB.

Simply select a team to win on the moneyline, and combine that selection with a game going Over or Under the betting total.

Rather than wagering on the full game in the MLB, we can limit variance by wagering on the first five innings.
